Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about SlideMe Out of Spam.

General

What is SlideMe Out of Spam?

SlideMe Out of Spam (SOS) is a WordPress plugin that protects your forms from spam and bots using an interactive slider challenge (invisible cryptographic challenges actually). Unlike traditional CAPTCHAs, it works entirely on your server with no external requests, no cookies, and no user tracking.

How does the slider challenge work?

When a user submits a form, they are asked to slide a handle along a track. The plugin generates random checkpoints along the slider path, each with a cryptographic token. The user must pass through these checkpoints to prove they are human. Bots cannot replicate this natural sliding motion.

How is this different from reCAPTCHA or hCaptcha?

reCAPTCHA and hCaptcha rely on external services, send user data to third-party servers, and often use cookies and browser fingerprinting. SlideMe Out of Spam runs 100% on your own server. No data leaves your site. No external JavaScript is loaded. No tracking of any kind.

Does it really stop bots?

Yes. The slider generates unique cryptographic tokens for each session with random checkpoint positions. Combined with server-side timing validation and rate limiting (plus behavior analysis and honeypot on premium plans), it provides strong protection against automated submissions.

Installation & Compatibility

Which WordPress versions are supported?

SlideMe Out of Spam requires WordPress 5.0 or later and PHP 7.4 or later. It has been tested up to PHP 8.4 and the latest WordPress release.

Which form plugins are supported?

The free version supports WordPress Comments and Contact Form 7. Premium plans add support for WPForms, Gravity Forms, Ninja Forms, and WooCommerce checkout and registration forms.

Will it conflict with other plugins?

The plugin is designed to be lightweight and non-intrusive. It only loads its assets on pages where a protected form is present. Conflicts are rare, but if you encounter one, our support team can help.

How do I install it?

Install from the WordPress plugin directory (search for “SlideMe Out of Spam”), or upload the plugin ZIP file via Plugins → Add New → Upload. Activate the plugin, go to Settings → SOS, and enable protection on the forms you want to secure.

Privacy & Compliance

Does the plugin collect any personal data?

No. SlideMe Out of Spam collects zero personal data. It does not use cookies, does not fingerprint browsers, does not track user behavior across pages, and does not send any information to external servers.

Is it GDPR and CCPA compliant?

Yes. Since the plugin collects no personal data and makes no external requests, it is compliant with GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy regulations by design. You do not need to add a cookie consent banner for this plugin.

Does it load external scripts or make API calls?

No. Everything runs on your server. No external JavaScript, no API calls, no CDN dependencies. The total plugin footprint is under 20KB.

Pricing & Licensing

What is included in the free version?

The free version protects WordPress Comments and Contact Form 7 on one website. It includes the full slider challenge with server-side validation, rate limiting, and cryptographic tokens. No features are artificially limited.

What do premium plans add?

Premium plans unlock additional form integrations (WPForms, Gravity Forms, Ninja Forms, WooCommerce), behavior analysis for stronger bot detection, honeypot fields, and priority support. Plans differ by the number of sites you can protect.

How does licensing work?

After purchasing a plan, you receive a license key. Enter it in Settings → SOS → License in your WordPress admin. The plugin verifies the license with our server and unlocks premium features. Each license is tied to a number of sites depending on your plan.

Can I switch plans or cancel?

Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade at any time. If you cancel, your premium features remain active until the end of your current billing period. There are no refunds, in accordance with EU digital goods regulations, except within the 14-day withdrawal period for EU customers.

Technical

Does the plugin affect page speed?

No. The plugin is under 20KB total and loads assets only on pages with protected forms. It makes zero external requests, so it adds virtually no overhead to your page load time.

Does it work with caching plugins?

Yes. The slider challenge uses AJAX to generate and validate sessions, so it works correctly with all major caching plugins (WP Super Cache, W3 Total Cache, WP Rocket, etc.).

Which browsers are supported?

All modern browsers are supported: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and their mobile equivalents. The slider uses standard touch and mouse events for broad compatibility.
